So, I have a friend living in London called Charlotte A, who has a friend I have met once also called Charlotte B. Charlotte B works for a company called Lion + Wolf that has some affiliation with Warner Records (I think, maybe).
Charlotte B put a kind of call out on Facebook 'seeking artists for commissioned work collaborating with musicians'. I gave it a 'like' and straight away Charlotte B sent me a message saying I should send them an email. She follows me on Instagram and seems to like my work and thought I'd be a good candidate.
I told her that I would be in London the following week anyway, and we should meet up, and she said yep, that'd be cool. By the time my trip came round I was too poor to do any of the things I planned (go to see Hockney and Rauschenburg at the Tate), I went to spend 2 days in London with only £12 in my bank...
Anyway - I sent my email and also visited them in London and from the experience, I still have no idea what this company actually does. I know they 'sponsor' a female singer named Sody, but other than that, I think they just go round networking. The creative opportunities are to do with t-shirt design and maybe social media design?
What I realised is that this company is one of those new upcoming talent companies that use a lot of buzzwords - as shown in their website mission statement YOUTH DEVELOPMENT / YOUTH MANAGEMENT / YOUTH INNOVATION TALENT & BRANDING
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??
This experience has been good in that I think I am not a right fit for these kind of companies... still it was good to do!
