Study Task 2

Creative Practice; 10 Qs

How did I get on this illustration course?

I don't feel deserving of my place here purely because I'm not brilliant at drawing. I like to think I have good ideas when it comes to making images, but drawing is a fundamental attribute to being a great illustrator.

Am I ready to develop my own aesthetic in terms of illustration?

I'm really enjoying the freedom of experimentation within my current practice, I wonder if I'll ever be ready to commit to a 'style'. I think the answer is that I haven't developed an aesthetic through practice thoroughly enough, hopefully it will happen however.

How much money should I spend on my practice?

As much as I am willing, I'd imagine. I'm not stupid and know that my life goes beyond studying illustration, but it is a pretty big deal. Whenever I can spare a few quid, I should use it to build up my collection of materials/media, in turn improving my practice.

What should I buy?

Materials I'm familiar with, materials that are alien to me, build up a range of colours, pens, books. If I'm serious about this, this should be a lifetime's worth of things needed for becoming successful.

How do I pass PPP?

I think I just having to be continuously blogging, criticising myself, finding things that influence me to go into certain directions.

Can I become a Photoshop pro?

Even after the photoshop tutorials, I'm still at a loss with digital illustration. I suppose I just have to practice and hopefully my skills will just improve. I've already learnt about levels and how these are important. I might never become pro, but I might just become good.

What if I decide I don't want to be an illustrator when I leave this course?

I suppose this is a bridge I'll have to cross when I come to it. I have no idea what I want to do for the rest of my life now, so whats to say I don't feel like that in a couple years? I just have to have faith i  the course that it will give me direction.
